ABOUT CONTEST

The annual Mathematics and Physics holiday-contest "Phystech School 2023" will take place on March 25-26, 2023! We invite everyone who is interested to test their knowledge of Mathematics and Physics by solving interesting problems in a friendly atmosphere. As it was last time, this year the contest will be held only online (you can participate from any city or country). There is no participation fee.

In 2021, 925 participants from 13 countries took part in the contest, and in 2020, 678 participants from 21 countries did. We hope that this year both geography and number of participants will expand even more!

The uniqueness of the contest is that each participant competes primarily with themselves. Credit is given separately for Mathematics, Physics, and together, for both subjects combined. Each participant will receive a reviewed work and (if desired) the number of points scored. Participants who score 10 or more points will receive certificates and will participate in a raffle of gifts from the organizers.

At the participant's request, the organizers will donate to the charitable fund "Come back alive" (www.savelife.in.ua) an amount of money corresponding to the number of points scored by the participant. For example, 20 points scored = 20 hryvnias (UAH) to support Ukraine. Additionally, any participant selected to receive a gift from the organizers will have the option to direct funds to charity instead.

To make it interesting for all participants, there are also competition-level tasks, and it is not easy to get the maximum score, which is the sum of the scores for two subjects. But even if you are not very strong in natural sciences, join in - to test yourself and spend time in a memorable way.

Problem sets will be offered in three versions:
Version #1, designed for grades 5-6, recommended to be completed in 1 hour 30 minutes,
Version #2, designed for grades 7-8, recommended to be completed in 2 hours,
Version #3, designed for grade 9 and above, recommended to be completed in 3 hours.

Each version will be available in three languages: English, Ukrainian and Russian. Participants will be able to present their solutions in any of these three languages.

Participants will be offered school-level tasks of varying difficulty. Versions #2 and #3 will also contain one Mathematics and one Physics task of Ukrainian regional student competitions level. Competition-level Physics tasks this year will be presented by Ilya Markovich Gelfgat, a teacher at Kharkiv Physics and Mathematics Lyceum No. 27, a Distinguished Teacher of Ukraine.
